What are the popular groups at school?  Who’s cool and who’s not?  Why do kids do certain things for popularity?  Well they might think they are being cool when really their not.  Some kids do things like drugs for popularity.  How much does it affect their everyday lives?  78% of teens say it would be easy to get away with drugs.  That doesn’t mean its right though.

People fall under many categories of groups.  These groups include “average people, gangsters, Goths, jocks, nerds, preps, physcos, punks, rockers, and skaters.  Each group has their own style of things.  Some dress like which group they’re in.  Mostly the preps and jocks are the most popular.  All groups are very easy to tell apart from the others.  How does it affect teen’s everyday lives?

Some groups put other groups down to feel better about them selves.  The nerds are the ones who are most put down.  The nerds are usually smart and kids tend to feel jealous.  They like to impress their friends by making fun of others.  Some kids do it because they might be treated that way at home.

Confidence is a big part of popularity.  The kids who worry about everything usually aren’t part of a “cool” group.  Kids who are confident usually are more popular.  They don’t worry about their appearance as much, which makes them not care.

The kids who try to fit in too much and always try to hang around with the cool people usually aren’t cool.  Everyone needs a good friend to hang around with.  If you are with someone who is just like you then you won’t worry about your self-image.  Also you don’t tend to get picked on because you’re with someone else.

There are certain things that make you popular.  Like doing things to impress you friends.  They might encourage you by laughing.  Which makes the kids keep on doing whatever it is their doing because they thing that everyone likes it.  It does not lead to good habits to have good behavior.

Another part of teen’s lives is drugs.  They get pressured into doing them.  Like for instance if someone tries smoking and keeps doing it they’ll start getting addicted to worse things.  If one kid says “no” to doing drugs then others might follow.

Addiction is very bad with drugs.  You get so used to doing it, and it gets hard to stop.  That’s why everyone has to say no unless you want to mess up your life.  If you keep trying and doing what people say they will keep offering drugs to you.

Other people think people are cool by doing things such as drugs.  They also might think its cool to be disrespectful to teachers of adults.  They wont say to stop doing something if they think its funny.  Controlling yourself is very important.  If you worry too much about your social status its less likely you’re going to be popular.  Don’t worry about what people think.
